Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre (London Jail)

ABOUT THE FACILITY

TrappCall has been providing collect call services from the Elgin-Middlesex Detention Center for over 15 years. Built in 1977, the maximum-security Elgin-Middlesex Detention Center also known as London Jail is home to 450 adult male offenders in both remanded and sentenced custody.

Detention centers are more substantial, contemporary buildings constructed as regional jails covering bigger areas in Ontario. The institutional system is accessed through detention facilities. It holds:

  • people who are being held without bail
  • such as those who are awaiting trial
  • sentencing, or other hearings
  • or offenders who have been given short sentences (about 60 days or fewer)
  • defendants awaiting transport to a federal or provincial prison

HOW DO I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO VISIT?

Schedule appointments a day in advance. If you show up during the final 15 minutes of a visiting session, you won't be allowed to visit.

VISITATION DETAILS

Visitation Duration: A visitation period of twenty (20) minutes is allowed for Remand inmates. For sentenced inmates, 40 minute touch visits are permitted.

Visits Per Week: Two visits per week for inmates

Visitor Count: Maximum of 2 adult visitors and 1 infant are allowed per visit

Money On Visit: You are allowed to a maximum of $100 in the form of cash
